In 2010 IBM was gearing up to introduce the world to a revolutionary technology. Its name was IBM Watson. StoryTK partner Carl De Torres partnered with Ogilvy & Mather to develop the visual identity for what would become one of the most influential technologies and a cornerstone of IBM's future. De Torres was charged with distilling the interactive avatar first developed by artist Joshua Davis for Watson's debut on Jeopardy. Davis's beautiful piece of interactive design was an amazing piece of code but simply didn't translate to an identity system. De Torres picked up where Davis left off and designed the Watson icon and hero avatar that everyone knows today. De Torres is honored to have contributed to the wonder and legacy of IBM and Watson.

The IBM Watson avatar is now the face of all Watson branding and communications. Today nearly all of IBM's communication and design agencies actively create art and design using the avatar design created by De Torres.
